Take a pugs gang, a bunch of fun games, an assortment of human and doggies cakes, a few party hats, an enchanting location, and you will have the perfect formula for a great Pug Party! Exactly what was Elmtree Canine Country Club‘s Pug Party on Sunday 23rd April.
Pug Fun
Games, cakes and zoomies!
Pugs have quite different tastes than beagles in terms of activities they like, and, accordingly, the Pug Party had a completely different concept from the Beagle Bonanza.
The first part of the event was held indoors in the hall. The little pug pack had a ball competing in sausage trails, where they had to get through a course eating all the pieces of sausage lined up and get to the finish line first. Musical matts was another great highlight, as well as a little obstacle/commands course, and of course off leash zoomies and pugs hugs!
Danielle from Elmtree explained that this second edition of the Pug Party was set up more like a birthday party, “since most pugs don’t like running around a lot we thought it would be much more fun for dogs and owners to be in the hall and play dog birthday party games”.
Part of the profits from the Pug Party were destined to the pug charity PDWRA (Pug Dog Welfare and Rescue).

Musical Matts
To celebrate there was also a doggie cake made of carrots, flour and dog biscuits and some lovely pug cupcakes (pugcakes!) for humans! Needless to say that everyone was over the moon!

Enjoying Doggie Cakes!
Pug go at agility and runs around
The wonderful sunny weather invited everybody to also have a play outside, in the agility area. If you think that pugs and agility are words weird have in the same sentence it is just because you didn’t see how much fun they had!
While the tunnel was only for the bravest, the obstacles were a great hit. Some of the pugs soon learnt to jump over it to gain a piece of sausage, while others decided that passing under the obstacole like a sort of limbo dancing was far smarted than passing over it, for the same result!

Other Dog Events at Elmtree Canine Country Club
Elmtree Training and Education Centre organises a monthly beagle event: the Beagle Bonanza (check out our previous review). The next Beagle Bonanza will be hold on Saturday 6th May, so note it down on your calendar if this is your breed!
In addition, they over the summer they will most likely organise some more breed specific events. Each one will support a specific charity relating to the breed of dog it is aimed at.
