Dog-friendly things you can actually do with your dog during lockdown phase 2 in London this June

Lockdown restrictions have been eased and now it’s not just dog walks you can take with your dog out to. The imperative is still keeping safe by observing social distancing and other measures as per Government guidelines, but a few places that have now reopened so on the list there are activities that will allow you to do something different than the usual walks while staying safe. In this post we tell you all about dog-friendly things to do with your dog during lockdown phase 2 in London this June.

We will be adding more things to do to this post as they come up and update you on July’s dog-friendly activites in a further post.

Things to do with your dog during lockdown phase 2 in London

Moo Canoes – hire a canoe or kayak

dog smiling on a canoeMoo Canoes in Hackney Wick has reopened at the end of May 2020. You can now hire its dog-friendly canoes and kayaks for a paddle on the canal. Paddlers should be from the same household and this is definitely one where you can easily keep your distance from other people, while sliding on the water! GoBoat London self-guided electric boats

Perfect for an autonomous adventure on the Regents Canal enjoying Little Venice, without getting tired paddling, get your dog and family/housemates for a picnic on one of their electric boats while you drive along the canal and forget about your living room! Rowing boats at Hollow Pond and in Richmond

Rowing boats in the pond with a dogHollow Ponds Boat Hire has also reopened in June and you can go rowing with your dog at the pond when you visit Epping Forest. Again this experience ensures you stay away from others, well, unless your rowing skills are non-existent like mine and you end near another boat.

If you are based in West London, you can also enjoy rowing boats in Richmond, where you can hire one at Richmond Bridge Boat Hire – all you need to know about an adventure on their boats here.

CarryMe Bikes dog-friendly cargo bikes hire

Fox terriers on CarryMe Bike dog-friendly cargo trikeYou can hire a cargo bike for taking your dog around. CarryMe Bikes have continued operating throughout lockdown, but taking some safety measures, including establishing a minimum number of days for the bike hires. Taking your dog for a ride on a cargo bike can be a lovely diversive. More in this post.

SUP with your dog

Photo of Back of Beyond Adventures founder with his dog on a SUPBack of Beyond Adventures, in Richmond, has reopened too and its new policy is that all self-guided SUP and canoe hires are dog-friendly! Both of these are 2.5 hours and they encourage people to bring along a picnic and to explore the islands and waterways between Richmond Lock and Teddington Lock. There is also a 2 hour Self Guided SUP Session. Dogs should have their own buoyancy aid with a grab handle. These can potentially be hired from Back of Beyond Adventures. They provide a brief lesson and safety briefing at the start before all paddlers sign a waiver and then off they go.

Hatfield House

Castle-like building at Hatfield HouseHatfield House, will be reopening on 20th June 2020. Just out of North London, it is a lovely destination for a walk in its woodland (where dogs are allowed on lead) and the background of this historic house. All about it in this blog post about our previous visit. The estate is huge and will ensure you have all the space you need.

Tea at Severndroog Castle’s Tea Room

Time for tea at Severndroog Castle in South East London, with a walk in the adjacent Oxleas Woods it will be the perfect day out.
